The Apostle whose doubt became the Church's certitude. Absent when the risen Christ first appeared, he believed when he touched the wounds, crying, My Lord and my God. Tradition makes him the Apostle of India, where the Christians of Malabar still claim him as their founder. The Christians of Saint Thomas in India still trace their faith to his preaching. He is the patron of India and of architects.
